CocoMonoco is a website portfolio designed to showcase original magical realism stories created by me, Chloe Celeste. I designed and produced every facet of this website and the stories within it, including: website code (html, CSS, and javascript), visual art (paintings, illustrations, and most photographs), and written art (prose and poetry).
CocoMonoco is intended to be an accurate display of my abilities to create original story ideas, generate illustrative content (concept drawings, storyboards, descriptive prose, etc.), problem solve, learn and hone new skills, and execute a vision beginning to end.
Most stories on this portfolio are edited by Trevor Gower. And I have received invaluable feedback from friends and family, allowing me to refine the user interface, aesthetics, and content of cocomonoco.com.

I separate my stories into two categories named Just a Little Interference and The Multiverse. Just a Little Interference contains stories that take place in a mostly realistic setting yet have some minor supernatural influence or twist that shifts the perspective of the story. The Multiverse holds stories that have at least one entirely fantastical setting. On the sidelines of these categories is “The Girl Who...”, my only autobiographical piece in this portfolio.
Presently, CocoMonoco has the beginnings of six stories: the first chapter of two novels: “Everchanging” and "The Spell of Brae", the first part of a novella: “Growing Old”, a short story: “The Hourglass”, a stick-figure comic strip: “The Manly Pride Man Code”, and my autobiographical prose poem: “The Girl Who...”.

“Everchanging” is the story of a young girl who is bestowed with a magical gift at the cost of taking on the ward of a sentient cat-like creature.
"The Spell of Brae" is set in a world ruled over by dragon god-deities. This story follows the lives of three children, from different social backgrounds, after the death of their country's dragon ruler.
In “Growing Old”, the protagonist is a sixty-eight year old woman who escapes from the sadness of her present life by daydreaming about her past, until she is given a chance to try again.
“The Hourglass” takes place in an odd and small town where all the inhabitants have unlimited opportunities to correct their mistakes. One young girl is able to observe the failings of a community free of failure.
“The Manly Pride Man Code” plays the archetypes female and male social pressures against one another. The main characters being Manly Pride Man, who embodies an unyielding and often destructive force, and Sensibility Girl, who represents a creative and compromising calm.
“The Girl Who…” is a medley of accurate memories and exaggerated active circumstance. Minutes and hours within the poem reflect months and years of my life. It was kicked off by a series of “running away” fantasies, and gave me the perspective I needed to realize I wanted more.

Overtime, I intend to add to the stories currently viewable. I also plan to post the beginnings of eleven new stories, including five graphic novels:
“Takers”
“Almost Wish”
“World Within”
“It’s a Big World Out There”
“The Giant and The Roach”
Two scripts:
“Another Birthday”
“Alfie and the Big Gun”
An animation:
“The One Who Sings”
And two prose novels:
“Carol: the Android”
“Dr. Deo’s Dastardly Deed”

Beyond being storytelling portfolio, I use CocoMonoco to share a bit about myself: my history, motivations, select sketches and designs, and various creative projects. I find that the more you learn about anything, the more you know about everything. So, I pursue my tangential inclinations to build, sculpt, carve, plant, paint, sew, sing, dance, etc. and usually find that I gain unique skills that enrich all aspects of my life.
Thank you for visiting CocoMonoco! I hope you continue you to explore.
I love feedback! If you have any, use the box below to send in your comments.
